What is Quilling, or Paper Filigree?

The art of rolling tiny papers and gluing them into ornate and delicate objects is the Quiller's task. Quilling, or Paper Filigree has been around for centuries. During the Renaissance the gold edges of books were trimmed and rolled around quills (thus the name quilling) and then used to create works of art. Boxes, and tea caddies were items commonly decorated in Victorian times. Today quilling is most commonly used for cards and scrapbooking, though as you see here, there is no end to the possibilites. There is another slide show on the Gift Gallery page! Take a look! You'll be amazed at what such tiny pieces of paper can do! Member of the North American Quilling Guild
